Who we are
Genevieve Joyce, founder and CEO of Equigate is an Equine Osteopath EDO & IAAT member with 18 years industry experience. Gen had the idea for this app a little under 10 years ago with her own benefit in mind. With no technical knowledge, this was left as a pipe dream for many years.
During the summer of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Gen decided to work on the idea. She found a couple of developers and engaged in conversations with them to gain an understanding of whether what she wanted from an app was possible. One developer stood out to her. Through various discussions and a list of requirements, the developer went away to work his magic. When he returned with some screen flows of what could be possible, Gen was delighted. So much so, that the idea of this just being for her use didn’t seem fair, and so the developer was instructed to undertake the works, but with the intention now of this being something that so many other people could benefit from too.
So here we are now, February 2023, and almost 3 years on since the very first conversation took place. There have been many obstacles that have presented themselves and got in the way during this period. We thought the app was ready, there was a design issue that needed more work, that took far longer than anticipated to fix. We have then had restrictions imposed by both Apple and Google with the way the payments were being taken, so once again, back to the drawing board to implement a fix. Things take far longer than you may think with tech. Just when you think you have it right, and you think you may be ready to launch the product, something else pops up that needs work.
However, all the hard work has paid off, and the app is about to launch. We are so excited for you all to see what we have created and get your feedback and your thoughts on how it’s changed the way you work.
